The FLAGs Special Website Has Been Launched

We are pleased to announce the launch of Niigata University’s FLAGs special website.

Niigata University has been selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) FY2025 initiative, “Project for Establishing World-Class Graduate School Education Hubs to Lead the Future (FLAGs).” This initiative aims to support the formation of graduate school education hubs that develop doctoral talent equipped with broad scholarly knowledge, an international outlook, and advanced practical skills — through the implementation of “thorough international hub formation (internationalization)” and “thorough industry-academia collaborative education” — while also seeking to increase the number of high-quality doctoral graduates through the reallocation of organizational resources.

Niigata University was selected under the “Comprehensive” category (18 applications; 4 selected), and will receive support from FY2025 through FY2031. As our vision for graduate education ten years from now, we aim to establish a graduate school education hub that cultivates “Doctoral Innovators” capable of solving complex societal challenges. This will be achieved through education that generates integrated knowledge (sogo chi) within an advanced, interdisciplinary environment that bridges the humanities and sciences, as well as through practice-oriented graduate education utilizing social co-creation and industry-academia collaboration — with the goal of increasing the number of doctoral degree recipients.
