【To all NU students】Rules for attending classes including online non-face-to-face classes

Niigata University has established the following rules for attending classes; these rules apply not only to online face-to-face classes, but to all classes at Niigata University. Please make sure to abide by the rules when you attend the classes.

1. It is prohibited to provide third parties with screen shots of online lectures, to distribute to third parties downloaded videos of online lectures, to upload videos of online lectures so that third parties can see them, or to send online lecture download hyperlinks to third parties※. Although students can view YouTube videos on Student Web System, this is only for the viewing of online classes, and as such students are prohibited from uploading videos.

(※If there are unforeseen technical issues such as the university’s servers are down, then students are allowed to send online course URL hyperlinks to other students in the same course who otherwise would not be able to get this information.)

2. All acts that interfere with online classes (acts of violence, acts that constitute harassment, acts that infringe on human rights, unauthorized access to online classes, and other inappropriate acts) are prohibited.

3. All fraudulent acts (including fraudulent acts conducted online) such as substituting for someone else’s exam, having someone substitute for you for an exam, and cheating on an exam are prohibited.

4. Furthermore, in accordance with the “Regulations for the Discipline of Niigata University Students”, the following acts from (1) to (7) are prohibited and subject to disciplinary action:

(1) Criminal acts and other illegal acts

(2) Acts that infringe on the human rights of others, such as harassment

(3) Misconduct and other acts contrary to academic ethics during examinations and the preparation of papers

(4) Acts contrary to the ethics concerning personal and proprietary information

(5) Acts that violate the rules of the university

(6) Acts that seriously damage the honor and/or credibility of the university

(7) Acts contrary to the duties and obligations of being a student

If a student does not follow these rules, then the student’s account may be suspended. Moreover, if a student is legally punished for crimes such as unauthorized access to electronic records or copyright infringement, then the student may be subject to disciplinary action according to the rules of this university.
