Center for International Education at Niigata University held the Japanese Language Showcase of 2019 Autumn Semester on Monday, December 2, 2019 at the Central Library Hall on Ikarashi Campus. The event is held twice a year for international students to present their achievements from their Japanese language classes.
A total of 21 international students from 13 countries including Russia, South Sudan and Cuba performed this time. Following the opening remarks by Prof. Ushiki, the Executive Vice President for International Affairs, speeches on a variety of topics, such as "family", "weekend" and "travel" were recited by the 16 international students who have studied Japanese in Intensive Japanese course for about 2 months since this October. The audience gave a round of applause for the speakers who have acquired fluent Japanese language skills in just 2 months.
Afterwards, three Japanese Government Scholarship students who had studied Japanese for a year delivered their speech about "Things that surprised me when living in Japan", which included their experience in Japan and raised a laugh from the audience.
In the closing remarks, Assoc. Prof. Hideki Ikeda from the Center, who teaches Japanese course, expressed that their performance demonstrated their efforts they had made to achieve the satisfactory outcome. All of the international students who spoke on the stage drew loud applause.
