In order to prevent research misconduct, Niigata University established 「新潟大学における研究倫理教育の実施に関する要項」 and conducts research ethics education as below. Education common to researchers is provided for them. If necessary, field-specific education is provided that matches the research field. In addition, research ethics education is provided for students according to their academic year, and graduate students receive education common to researchers on top of research ethics education.

Education common to researchers

As part of the education common to researchers, students are required to take the course through the APRIN e-learning program so that they can fully acquire the ethical standards required of researchers.

You will complete the course by scoring 80 points or higher on the test given at the end of each unit. Please note that courses may be specified depending on the department. Please contact the department in charge. Click here for the contact information for each department. (On-campus only) Please complete the course during the year required.

(イ)　大学教育職員(特任教員，短時間勤務の特任教員を含む。)
(ロ)　非常勤職員のうち学術研究員，研究機関研究員，特別研究員，科学技術振興研究員，産学官連携研究員，研究支援者(科研費研究員)又は研究支援者(厚生科研費研究員)の名称で雇用されている者
(ハ)　教室系技術職員?医療系技術職員?看護職員のうち，研究活動又は研究活動補助を行う者
(ニ)　非常勤職員((ロ)に規定する者を除く。)のうち，研究活動又は研究活動補助を行う者
(ホ)　(イ)から(二)まで以外の者で，本学において科学研究費助成事業その他の国又は独立行政法人等から配分される競争的研究費へ申請する者
(ヘ)　日本学術振興会特別研究員のうちPD，SPD，RPD及び外国人特別研究員の身分の者
(ト)　大学院学生
(チ)　その他研究倫理教育責任者又は研究担当理事が必要と認めた者

Program enrollment

• If your hiring date is close to the end of the fiscal year, please take the course as soon as possible after assuming your position.
• If you are unable to complete the course due to other special reasons, please complete the course as soon as possible.
• Those who have taken eAPRIN at their previous job within the past 5 years from the date of their employment by or enrollment at Niigata University, and have submitted a course completion certificate issued by the eAPRIN system after being hired by or enrolled at Niigata University, are exempt from taking the course. If you have not completed all the units in the course designated by each research ethics education supervisor, you are required to take the missing units.

Those who do not fall under the above-mentioned requirements can also take research ethics education to improve themselves.

Issuance of research ethics education certificate

If you require proof that you have completed the research ethics education course, please complete an issuance application form and submit it to the person in charge in your department. If the certificate format is specified, please submit the specifications together with the issuance application. The person in charge will attach your certificate of completion to the issuance application and submit it to the person in charge of research ethics education in the Research Promotion Department. The certificate will be issued after the necessary procedures are finished.
