Niigata University held the entrance ceremony of the 2019 Spring Semester for international students on Thursday, April 4 at the Central Library Hall on Ikarashi Campus.
This spring, a total of 88 new students from 16 countries and regions were admitted: China, Taiwan, Korea, France, Australia, Germany, India, Thailand, Chile, England, Laos, Mongolia, Cote d'Ivoire, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and the United States.
At the beginning of the ceremony, a welcome address was given by Prof. Tatsuo Ushiki, the Executive Vice President for International Affairs. In his speech, Prof. Ushiki expressed his hope for the new students to develop their potential and possibilities in our ideal environment where they can learn about Japanese culture and history and enjoy the abundant nature and delicious food of Niigata as well as to form friendship which will become their invaluable assets for the future.
Following the welcome address, representing the international students, a student from Sri Lanka gave a speech and spoke enthusiastically about his goals.
We wish all of the new students a fulfilling and enjoyable campus life here at Niigata University.
