At the ceremony, President Takahashi said, "In today’s society, learning, information and technology are the base of knowledge that is extremely important. We are required to be true global persons who can contribute to our local communities and global society with high language skills and skills of intercultural adaptation in addition to rich cultural accomplishments and high expertise. Furthermore, new jobs that have never existed before will be created in our near-future society. I hope that all of you new students will become individuals in the next generation with tough and flexible mind to be able to adapt to the new era while studying at Niigata University."
In response, Miho Iihara from the Faculty of Education spoke on behalf of the new first year students, "People's lifestyles and values are diversifying, which will further accelerate in the future. While accepting this progress, we must emphasize communication with the people around us. We also have to create a society where we can mutually respect each other beyond generations and where each individual can self-actualize. My future dream is to become an elementary school teacher. In order to make the most of all children's abilities, we will work hard to become teachers who have both rich humanity and proven expertise."
Congratulations on your admission.
We hope you will spend fruitful time at Niigata University.
