Niigata University held its 2018 Graduation Ceremony at Toki Messe in Chuo-ku, Niigata City on Monday, March 25 with a total of over 6,000 graduating students and their families.
A total of 3,005 students were awarded a degree or completion certificate: 2,292 bachelor's degrees, 658 graduate degrees, 9 doctorate degrees by dissertation, and 46 graduate degrees in the school nurse program. Also, among the 2,292 students with bachelor's degrees, 64 students were awarded minor certificates, authorized for their special academic achievements outside their majors.
At the ceremony, President Takahashi presented the relevant diplomas, certificates of completion and minor certificates to the representatives of the graduating students receiving bachelor's degrees, graduate degrees, nursing teaching degrees and minor certificates.
President Takahashi then congratulated the graduates, saying, "You are all responsible for the future as the graduates of Niigata University to become the strength of the next generation. Keep growing, even after going out into the world; improve yourself as you have learned and grown so far. I can assure you that the broad vision, rich culture and high expertise that you acquired at Niigata University will continue to help you. Act with confidence and enthusiasm, without giving up on your dreams." Daisuke Mugishima, graduating from the School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, replied on behalf of the graduates, "We shared the same rough time and learned together with friends who had different sense of values during our four years of university life. This experience has become the confidence that supports us now. We will wisely examine the information in front of us in our information-oriented society, taking pride in ourselves being Niigata University graduates at the end of the Heisei period. We will share the information we obtained with our society."
We sincerely hope that our graduates will spread their wings into society with confidence and pride and that their futures will be full of happiness.
