As the outbreak of COVID-19 continues, the "New Lifestyle" is being required: (a) ensuring physical distance, (b) wearing a mask, (c) washing hands and avoiding three C's (Closed spaces with poor ventilation, Crowded places, Close range conversations), all of which are three basics of infection control.
At Niigata University, you are required to wear a mask in taking experimental/laboratory classes as well as future face-to-face classes and participating in extracurricular activities. We inform you of the following points for preventing heatstroke during the upcoming heat season.
You may remove your mask temporarily in case you can secure an adequate distance (two meters or more) with people outdoors.
Please make sure to ventilate the rooms adequately once every one hour.
Please adjust the temperature setting of the air conditioner frequently since wearing a mask can be a physical burden as well as the room temperature fluctuates by ventilating the rooms.
Drink before you feel thirsty. It is recommended that you drink between one liter and? one and a half liters of water per day. Make sure to take in salt when you sweat a lot.
Heatstroke alert will be announced by each prefecture in the evening of the day before or early in the morning of the day when the heat is expected to cause an extremely high risk of heatstroke. Take an action proactively to prevent heatstroke on the day when the alert is issued. The "Heat Index" is useful to know if heatstroke is likely to occur, and it is available on? Heat Illness Prevention Information by Ministry of the Environment. When the risk by heatstroke indicates "dangerous"and marked in red color, please thoroughly follow the above mentioned points.
