Assistant Professor ARINAMI Yuki of the Architecture Program of the Faculty of Engineering received the 2021 Architectural Institute of Japan Encouragement Award. This award recognizes the achievements of outstanding papers on architecture with originality, seminal ideas and future potential published in recent years.
The award ceremony is scheduled to be held from September 7 to 10, 2021 at the 2021 Architectural Institute of Japan Convention, which will take place in Tokai region.
This paper examines a method for efficiently taking in external wind into houses under various neighborhood conditions through computer simulation and model-testing, using detached house models, assuming an urban area. This award was given in recognition of 1. Clarifying the airflow properties inside and outside a house using a systematic model for a challenging subject that was conventionally difficult to evaluate due to the relatively large fluctuation in airflow over time, 2. Proposing a new ventilation performance evaluation method and its careful and in-depth examination, and 3. Providing new knowledge that contributes to architectural planning and design materials for realistically densely populated urban areas.
