Niigata University concluded the cooperation agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency Tokyo Center (JICA Tokyo) on Wednesday, March 24.
Niigata University and JICA have maintained the various cooperative relationships over a long period of time, including the projects where our faculty members participated as specialists in the fields of medicine and disaster prevention as well as accepting foreign trainees invited by JICA. Since 2019, the project has been carried out in order to accept foreign students from developing countries gaining scholarships from JICA. Under this project, a total of 12 students from eight African countries are currently studying at the Graduate School of Science and Technology.
At the online signing ceremony on the same day, Prof. USHIKI, the President of Niigata University said; "We would like to contribute to the development of local and international communities in collaboration with JICA, the leading organization to promote especially SDGs." Mr. TANAKA Izumi, the Director General of JICA Tokyo delivered the address; "We would like to further promote student exchange from developing countries as a bridge between Niigata, Japan and home countries."
Niigata University will further encourage cooperation with JICA under this agreement, and promote fostering individuals cable for contributing to international and local communities.
