If a child becomes sick, and has to undergo medical treatment in a hospital that is far from home, the family will be confronted with not only a financial but also a mental burden.

"Ronald McDonald House" is a "home away from home", which is an accommodation facility for sick children and their families so that the financial and mental burden for those families can be reduced.

Niigata University Medical & Dental Hospital applied to Ronald McDonald House Charities Japan, a public interest incorporated foundation, for the construction of Ronald McDonald House Niigata, the first House on the Sea of Japan side, and has been selected as the 12^th House in Japan.

For the construction, we started raising funds in October, 2019. Although our fundraising came to a standstill due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infectious disease (COVID-19), many people has donated since September.

As of October 21, 2020, the donation for Ronald McDonald House Niigata has reached the target amount of 180 million yen for the construction fund. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for generous support from a lot of people.

The breakdown of donations is approximately 2,000 people, including companies inside and outside of Niigata prefecture, various welfare organizations, hospitals and medical association in Niigata prefecture, alumni, faculty and staff of Niigata University as well as general public inside and outside of Niigata prefecture.

We will now proceed with the preparation for design, construction, and operation with a view to opening in the spring of 2022. After opening, Ronald McDonald House Charities Japan will operate the House, which is supported by the donation from people all over Japan. We would appreciate for your continuous support.
