We have gradually resumed our daily life and business based on "New Lifestyle", and Niigata University has also resumed its educational and research activities since a nationwide state of emergency was lifted on May 25. We, however, are still under an unpredictable situation as confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus have been surging again in Tokyo and surrounding areas. Therefore, Niigata University will continue to conduct non-face-to-face classes in principle.
For some classes, educational effectiveness on the curriculum can be reduced unless they are conducted face-to-face. Then we will offer face-to-face classes and exams in the third and fourth term of the second semester, AY 2020, for certain subjects that require face-to-face means, with ensuring thorough infection control measures. Even for these classes, we will minimize the number of face-to-face classes.
We would like you to keep the following in mind and take classes in the third term starting on October 2. Please consult with Student Affairs Office of your Faculty/Graduate School since your intentions and concern as to conducting face-to-face classes will be fully considered.

- If you are experiencing some symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath and fatigue, etc.), stay at home. Make sure to inform your class teacher of your symptoms and follow his/her instruction. We have requested our faculty members to give alternative assignment to ensure your learning opportunities.
- In case your family members, whom you are living with, are experiencing fever, cough, shortness of breath and fatigue, you can take classes with wearing a mask, washing and sanitizing your hands.

- Please be advised to avoid "Three Cs": Closed spaces with poor ventilation, Crowded places with many people nearby, and Close-contact settings such as close-range conversations not only during classes but also before/after classes. On finishing classes, return home and? do your assignments at home as much as possible.
- If you are compelled to take non-face-to-face classes on campus due to the timetable, you can attend classes in the designated lecture rooms using on-campus WiFi.
- Make sure to frequently check the notice from your class teacher and follow his/her instruction before/during/after classes as the contents and places of classes vary depending on the subjects.
