Niigata University has concluded an exchange agreement with Saint Petersburg State University, which is a prestigious university in Russia together with Moscow University. When President Sugata Takahashi went to Moscow to attend the 6th University Presidents Meeting of Japan and Russia, he also paid a visit to Saint Petersburg State University on October 7 and signed an agreement with Nikolay Kropachev, the president of the university.
The Faculty of Humanities in Niigata University and the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Faculty of Literature in Saint Petersburg State University concluded an agreement between their faculties in 1999. Since then Niigata University has dispatched 19 exchange students and accepted 13 exchange students. The exchange agreement between universities this time was concluded based on this past exchange.
Before signing the agreement, President Kropachev indicated his interest in research and student exchange in the fields of medicine, economics and business administration. President Takahashi stated his wishes for a fruitful exchange in each other's fields of expertise.
We expect student exchange in the humanities and a broad range of research exchange to be performed from now on.
