The Faculty of Agriculture, the Graduate School of Science and Technology, and the Research Institute for Natural Hazards and Disaster Recovery, Niigata University, collaborate with Fukushima University, Ankara University, Ege University, and Middle East Technical University to implement the "Global Framework of Student Capacity Development for Resilient Agriculture and Food Production" project as a Re-Inventing Japan Project granted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Throughout the project, we aim to educate students to gain the ability to respond flexibly, so-called "Resilience," to a difficult situation from a glocal perspective.
We held the 2016 Faculty Development and Student Workshop at the Library Hall of the Central Library on Ikarashi Campus on Thursday, January 19, 2017. In the first session, reports on inbound programs at both Niigata University and Fukushima University were given as well as a special lecture. In the second part, students from Niigata University and collaborating universities in Turkey made presentations in English.
The FD and Workshop was specially elaborated as some of Niigata University students interpreted the Japanese a greeting given by Professor Takeshi Watanabe, the dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, into Turkish. It was a great opportunity for both students and faculty members to deepen their understandings and interests in this project.
