As the outbreak of COVID-19 continues, the "New Lifestyle" is being required: (a) ensuring physical distance, (b) wearing masks, (c) washing hands and avoiding three C's (Closed spaces with poor ventilation, Crowded places, Close range conversations), all of which are three basics of infection control.
At Niigata University, you are required to wear a mask in taking experimental/laboratory classes as well as future face-to-face classes and participating in extracurricular activities. We inform you of the following points for preventing heatstroke during the upcoming heat season.
You may remove your mask temporarily in case you can secure an adequate distance (two meters or more) with people outdoors. You, however, are required to wear a mask during face-to-face conversation.
Please make sure to ventilate the rooms adequately once every one hour.
Please adjust the temperature setting of the air conditioner frequently since wearing a mask can be a physical burden as well as the room temperature fluctuates by ventilating the rooms.
Drink before you feel thirsty. It is recommended that you drink between one liter and? one and a half liters of water per day. Make sure to take in salt when you sweat a lot.
"Heat Stress Index" indicates the environment where the risk of heatstroke increases. Not only the temperature, but also the humidity and solar radiation are significant factors of the heatstroke, which construct the "Heat Stress Index (in Celsius)" on? Heat Illness Prevention Information by Ministry of the Environment. When the index indicates danger levels in red, please make sure to follow the above mentioned points.
