One undergraduate student, 23 master's students and 21 doctoral students, totaling 45 students, made a new start at the Fall 2017 Entrance Ceremony held on Monday, October 2 at the Central Library Hall on Ikarashi Campus.
Many international students enroll in fall; 33 international students enrolled this year. The president, executive rice presidents, deans and graduate school directors also attended the ceremony to welcome the new students.
President Takahashi encouraged the students in his speech: "By all means, set your sights on the wider world, observe things and events from a broad perspective, and cultivate autonomous learning skills so that you may achieve outstanding results.
Life at university is not only about the acquisition of knowledge. I hope that you will make many friends here and learn both cooperativeness and leadership. Without a doubt, the friendships you form during your student years will become your lifetime assets and will further enrich your life."
At the end of the ceremony, the Niigata University Student Orchestra performed celebratory music, adding grace to the welcoming mood. The new students took their first steps with great expectations while looking a little nervous. All students are expected to strive in their studies to realize their hopes and dreams.
All the faculty and staff of Niigata University wish the new students the very best in their academic and student lives.
