A New Year's party was held by the Chinese Students' Association of Niigata University on Monday, January 15 at the Dai-ichi Cafeteria on the Ikarashi Campus.
Our university has 302 Chinese students enrolled as of November 1, 2017. Because many students cannot return to China for the Spring Festival, which is the Lunar New Year, due to studying, the Chinese Students' Association holds a New Year's party every year around this season, also inviting local residents to express their gratitude.
On this day, Consul General Sun Dagang of the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Niigata participated as a guest and about 200 international students, local residents, faculty and staff celebrated the Lunar New Year.

The venue was decorated for the Spring Festival, and the participants mingled with each other as they enjoyed Chinese dishes. Japanese students from Niigata University International Volunteer Club and international students performed Soran Bushi and Indian dances, and international students sang with guitar accompaniment making the party enjoyable with smiles among students all over.
One international student who came to Japan in last October last year said with his eyes lit up, "I was really looking forward to a New Year's party. Since I was able to relax by attending the party, I will do my best to study video and media systems from now on."
