Niigata University is working on building and strengthening international networks based on the periphery of East Asia. Last year, as part of this scheme, we conferred the title of Liaison Professor to academic researchers and staff working overseas who contributed greatly to the international exchange of our university. They have been working with us to further strengthen and promote the international network of our university.
This year we have newly conferred the title to seven people: two from China and one each from Russia, Thailand, Brazil, Jordan and the United States of America. Along with this, on Wednesday, February 28, in addition to the seven Liaison Professors above, we invited one Liaison Professor from Thailand who was absent from the assembly last year and held the Second Niigata University Liaison Professor Assembly to discuss strengthening our international network.
At this assembly held at the Yujin Memorial Hall on Asahimachi Campus, Liaison Professors gave reports on their activities related to exchange and collaboration with Niigata University along with a report on the current status of international strategies and globalization of our university. In a discussion, constructive ideas were exchanged such as about the current state and issues of Double Degree Program where both universities give their degrees respectively by using credit transfer system. It was a meaningful opportunity for further strengthening and promoting the international network for the future.
