Niigata University held the ceremony to put up the plaques of its Attached Schools at the hall on Ikarashi Campus on Tuesday, April 2.
As a part of reinforcing teacher training function, Niigata University established the Department of Niigata University Attached Schools last April to supervise the Attached Schools. We have undertaken reforms by allocating the Executive Vice President for Education to the Director of the Department, and two general managers, who also serve as the university faculty members as well as making the school principals full-time.
In 2019, Niigata University applied the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) for putting the direct supervision of the Attached Schools, and they have become an organization under the direct control of the university from the Faculty of Education, Niigata University after the Ordinance of the MEXT was revised.
The unveiling ceremony for the plaques with the new names was held at the administrative building of the university as the attached schools and a kindergarten are dispersed over Niigata prefecture: 3 in chuo-ku, Niigata City and 3 in Nagaoka City.
At the ceremony, following the addresses from the President, Prof. USHIKI Tatsuo, and the Director, Prof. KOKUBO Yoshiko, a commemorative photo was taken, which marked the beginning of the new Attached Schools.
