The 2017 graduation ceremony with over 6,000 graduating students and their families attending was held on Friday, March 23 at Toki Messe in Chuo Ward, Niigata City.
A total of 3,033 students were awarded a degree or completion certificate: 2,319 bachelor's degrees, 667 graduate degrees, 9 doctorate degrees with doctoral dissertations, and 38 graduate degrees in the school nurse program. Also, among the 2,319 bachelor's degrees, 65 students were awarded minor certificates due to their special academic achievements outside their majors.
At the ceremony, President Takahashi presented the relevant diplomas, certificates of completion and minor certificates to the representatives of the graduating students receiving bachelors, graduate degrees, school nurse degrees and minor certificates.
President Takahashi then congratulated the graduates, saying, "We hope you will act with confidence and enthusiasm, working to realize your dreams, never giving up. I am convinced that the true strength you gained at Niigata University will make your futures fruitful and energetic." Looking back on the 4 years of student life, Naoki Sakurai, graduating from the Faculty of Science, replied to this vigorously on behalf of the graduates, "We will use what we have learned at Niigata University as nourishment and promise to steadily proceed with our lives step by step."
We sincerely hope that our graduates will spread their wings into society with confidence and pride and that they will have happy lives ahead.
