Dental graduate student Takumi Hiyoshi DMD, Associate Professor Hisanori Domon, Professor Yutaka Terao, and other researchers at the Niigata University Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences and Kobayashi Pharmaceutical Central R&D Laboratory elucidated that hinokitiol could suppress "alveolar bone loss," "tissue inflammation," and "growth of periodontitis-causing bacteria," which are common issues encountered in the treatment of periodontitis.
The manuscript reporting these results was accepted by the Archives of Oral Biology on Feb 03, 2020, and published online on Feb 07, 2020.
