Prospective Graduates and Families:

We regret to inform you that Niigata University has decided to cancel the 2019 Academic Year Graduation Ceremony, scheduled to take place on March 23, at Toki Messe.

Due to the growing concern about the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the university had to reach the difficult decision after careful consideration from various viewpoints of the members of the newly formed Task Force, including infectious disease specialists.

We believe that all graduates and their families have been awaiting the Graduation Ceremony, which is a milestone in life. In light of the fact, however, that the novel coronavirus is highly infectious and spreads rapidly as well as that we are in an important stage whether we can control the spread of the virus, we came to the conclusion. The safety of our students and their families is the top priority of Niigata University. We ask for your understanding.

The way the students receive their diplomas is being under consideration and we will inform you once it's been decided.
