Dr. Sajjiv Ariyasinghe, a Liaison Professor (*) of Niigata University and Senior Professor at the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka, has received the Ambassador’s Commendation from the Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka in recognition of his outstanding contributions to mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries. The award ceremony was held on August 27, 2025, at the University of Peradeniya.

Niigata University and the University of Peradeniya have built a strong partnership for over 20 years, collaborating in various fields including dentistry, medicine, health sciences, science, agriculture, and administrative staff exchanges. As a Liaison Professor, Dr. Ariyasinghe has played a central role in promoting these exchanges.

This award is a recognition of his outstanding contributions to the academic and student exchange programs between the two universities over the past 21 years. Niigata University sincerely congratulates Dr. Ariyasinghe on this remarkable achievement and looks forward to further strengthening the collaboration between our two universities.

(*) The Liaison Professor program was established by Niigata University in AY2016. The title is conferred on alumni or individuals affiliated with overseas universities who actively contribute to promoting academic exchange and serve as key partners in international collaboration.
