The Entrance Ceremony of 2025 was held at Toki Messe in Chuo-ku, Niigata City on Thursday, April 3.

A total number of 3,274 students enrolled in our university this year: 2,416 to the undergraduate degree programs, 651 to the master's degree programs, 138 to the doctoral degree programs, 21 to the postgraduate professional degree programs and 48 to the special school nurse program.

At the ceremony, President USHIKI said, “On the occasion of your admission, I would like you to keep our philosophy of Autonomy and Creativity in mind and share the “Life innovation” that Niigata university aims for. Stay alert to both your personal development and to the world around you, making the most of your time as a student. Maximize your intellectual curiosity and learn as much as you can at Niigata University. I hope you will also develop the courage to tackle questions with no clear answers, and the perseverance to overcome them during your time here. Don’t be afraid to fail—take on new challenges, as they will undoubtedly help pave the way for your future.

In response, Mr. KUMAKURA Yuta from the Faculty of Dentistry spoke on behalf of the new first year students, “We hereby pledge to remember to be grateful and devote much effort to our studies, to achieve our goals with a sense of pride and responsibility, as a student of Niigata University.”
