On November 28, 2024, President USHIKI Tatsuo visited the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), a partner university of Niigata University (NU) in Australia.
UTS is a comprehensive university that is highly regarded worldwide for its practice-based education in collaboration with industry and research that has an impact on the real world. Since the signing of the inter-university agreement in 2009, NU and UTS have been actively engaged in student exchange mainly through university-wide exchange programs.
During the visit, President USHIKI Tatsuo met with the? Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Global Partnerships LIU Leo Mian and staff in charge of international exchange at UTS to exchange opinions on student exchange. He was introduced to UTS’s efforts to promote student mobility and a variety of programs for international students. In addition to the existing student exchange programs, discussions were held to promote future collaboration in research and other areas.
President USHIKI Tatsuo also observed the UTS campus, which is located in the heart of Sydney and features eye-catching, iconic architecture. The tour included a look at the state-of-the-art research facilities and the campus environment that fosters diverse and inclusive learning, which have been developed through a large-scale campus redevelopment project, and a shared vision for further expansion of collaboration between the two universities.
Niigata University will continue to strengthen exchanges with University of Technology Sydney and other overseas universities in the future.
