Niigata University held its 2023 Graduation Ceremony at Toki Messe in Chuo-ku, Niigata City on Monday, March 25.

A total of 2,956 students were awarded a degree or completion certificate: 2,222 bachelor's degrees, 683 graduate degrees, and 51 graduate degrees in the school nurse program. In addition, 7 students were awarded doctorate degree by dissertation. Among the students with bachelor's degrees, 33 students were awarded minor certificates, authorized for their special academic achievements outside their majors.

At the ceremony, President USHIKI presented the relevant diplomas, certificates of completion and minor certificates to the representatives of the graduating students.

President USHIKI then congratulated the graduates, saying, "I hope that even after your graduation, you will remember Niigata University’s educational philosophy of “Autonomy and Creativity”, maintain your intellectual curiosity and never forget to keep on learning. I also sincerely hope that you will maintain your bonds with the university wherever you are as you play an active role as frontrunner of future life innovation.

Mr. SHIRAI Kuna, graduating from the Faculty of Agriculture, replied on behalf of the graduates, "Thanks to the cooperation of many people, we as students of Niigata University have had valuable opportunities to grow through a variety of activities including our studies. On behalf of all the graduates, I would like to express our gratitude to everyone who supported our student life, including all the professors and senior students who guided us with passion, all the friends with whom we studied together, and our families for their warm support."

We sincerely hope that our graduates will spread their wings into society with confidence and pride and that their futures will be full of happiness.
