The closing ceremony of the 2019 Spring Semester for international students was held on Monday, August 5.
Since 2017, we have held the closing ceremony in August as a milestone of the international students' studies as many of them return home after the end of the first semester. The ceremony was held at the Library Hall on Ikarashi campus. This year, 55 students from China, Taiwan, Mongolia, Myanmar, Korea and other countries attended the ceremony.
President Takahashi advised the enrolled international students to have fun and remember to be cautious during summer vacation. Then, he sent a message to those who were going to return their home universities: "I could see from the slides that you had a fulfilling student life at Niigata University. I am hoping that you will become a bridge between Niigata University and your home university telling your friends about our university after returning home. Moreover, I would like you to come back to Niigata University to continue studying after graduating from your home university." Following the President, an exchange student from Cuba spoke for the international students attending the ceremony. He stated what he had learned and his memories during the stay.
At the end of the ceremony, each student received a Japanese-style teacup with the university logo as a commemorative small gift.
