President Takahashi talked with Sergey Levin, the Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture, on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Consulate-General of the Russian Federation in Niigata. The Deputy Minister of Agriculture was visiting Niigata to attend the G20 Niigata Agriculture Ministers' Meeting.
Consul-General Sergeev Mikhail of the Consulate-General of the Russian Federation in Niigata, Professor Kuni Sueyoshi, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Associate Professor Hideo Hasegawa and Assistant Professor Lyude Anna met to talk about educational research with the Russian Federation in the agricultural fields.
President Takahashi first explained the academic exchange at Niigata University, including agriculture, based in the East Asian regions while looking out towards the world. Then the international joint research of the Faculty of Agriculture targeting soybeans for food in the Russian Far East as well as the special program for the government-sponsored international students at the Graduate School of Science and Technology for educating advanced agricultural specialists in the Russian Far East was introduced to Deputy Minister Levin. The meeting proceeded peacefully with Deputy Minister Levin responding that Niigata University's efforts in the Russian Federation accurately captures the issues in the Russian Far East and that the Ministry of Agriculture would positively support our efforts.
